The University of Michigan hired outgoing Utah coach Kyle Whittingham to lead the scandal-plagued Wolverines football program, the school announced, a little more than two weeks after the dismissal and arrest of former coach Sherrone Moore.

Moore was fired after just two seasons as head coach following a university investigation into an alleged inappropriate relationship with a staff member. He was later charged with home invasion, stalking and breaking and entering.
