Prime ‍Minister Mark Carney on ‍Saturday ​announced an additional $2.5-billion of ⁠economic aid for Ukraine.

The assistance will ‌help ‍Ukraine unlock ‍financing from ‌the International ⁠Monetary ​Fund, Carney said during an appearance with Ukrainian ​President Volodymyr Zelensky, who also spoke briefly ⁠to ⁠reporters.

Carney and Zelensky met in Halifax today ahead of peace talks hosted by the U.S. President this weekend.

Zelensky is on his way to Florida for meetings with Donald Trump, who is trying to broker an end to the war between Russia and Ukraine.
