If we don’t meet our budget, that will directly impact how many reporters we can hire and how many investigations we can pursue in the year ahead.

The Intercept’s critical end-of-year fundraising drive ends at midnight, and we’re still almost $100,000 short of what we’ve budgeted for the year. And according to our records, you haven’t yet donated to our year-end campaign.

Make no mistake: Reader donations are an absolutely vital source of funding for everything we do. If we fall short, that will directly impact how many reporters we can hire and how many investigations we can pursue in the year ahead.

This is our last request: Please chip in $5 to our year-end fundraising drive. All donations received by midnight will be matched 100 percent.

You know what a dark and dangerous time this is for the free press and democracy.

Every time we publish a story holding the wealthy and well-connected to account, we risk retaliation from billionaires filing costly lawsuits or Trump administration officials coming after us and threatening our reporters.

Over the last 12 months, we’ve done some of the most groundbreaking reporting in our history, and we have ambitious plans for even more in 2026. However, 60 percent of our funding comes directly from reader donations, and we cannot afford to fall short of our budget for the year.

Will you make a year-end donation to support the nonprofit investigative journalism of The Intercept? All year-end donations are matched 100 percent.
