A client of mine was sending ~500 emails a week.

  2. Relevance – Tie your opener to their world, not your pitch
  3. Resonance – Speak to persona-specific pain, not generic company goals
  4. Rhythm – Run a 4-touch sequence in a 10-day window while the signal is hot

What we changed:

  1. Signals First: Scraped job changes, exec moves, hiring bursts, tech installs.
  2. Contextual Openers: Based 100% on the signal we discovered.
  3. Persona-Based Proof: If they were AEs, we showed AEs wins. If they were CS, a different angle.
  4. The 10-Day Signal Sequence

It looked like this:

  • Day 1: Trigger-based opener
  • Day 3: Proof w/ same trigger
  • Day 6: Pain-driven insight
  • Day 10: Breakup w/ reframe

Example from an SMB rep:

One rep was targeting fast-growing B2B SaaS teams with small CS orgs.
He spotted a company that just raised a $4M Seed and posted 3 CS roles on LinkedIn.

Here’s what he sent:

Subject: 4M + scaling CS

“Saw you're building out customer success post-funding. When teams grow CS fast, I usually hear two challenges: onboarding consistency and support bandwidth. Curious if either's on your radar?”

They got a reply 18 minutes later.
