The emails, from Dec. 31, 2017 and
Jan. 1, 2018, are between Epstein and his longtime pilot, Larry Visoski.
The New Year’s Eve message from Visoski asks Epstein if it would be possible to charter the plane to Providence two days late for a “Joe Polina.” (Epstein said it wasn't possible.) A follow-up email from Visoski the next day reveals Paolino inspected the plane and identified wood damage that needed to be repaired.
“He was a very nice guy. I believe he is very interested in your plane, he kn=ws [sic] how you take care of your Aricraft [sic], and appreciates its pedigree,” Visoski wrote. Visoski also wrote that Paolino said he met Epstein in London in 1998.
Reached Saturday, Paolino confirmed that he and a group of friends “looked at some planes” through a broker in Florida. He said Epstein’s was one of several planes the group looked at, but they never moved forward with a purchase.
There is no allegation of wrongdoing by Paolino – just one of those strange hindsight moments involving a name many Rhode Islanders know.
Epstein was later arrested on federal sex trafficking charges in 2019 and died in jail while awaiting trial.
“Glad I saved my money,” Paolino said. “JetBlue is the best way to go.”
