Celebrating Black History Month

Three black Paralympians on Team USA

In honor of Black History Month and the start of the Winter Paralympics, we’re shining a spotlight on remarkable Black Paralympians who have made history on the snow and ice.

From Malik Jones, a gold–medal–winning athlete and rising leader in Para ice hockey, to Bonnie St. John, the first African American to medal at a Winter Paralympics, and Ralph Green, a trailblazer in U.S. Para alpine skiing, these athletes embody perseverance, excellence, and impact. Their stories remind us that representation matters and that barriers can and should be broken.

In February we also celebrate Therapeutic Recreation (TR) Month. During this month we recognize the power of recreation in improving health, wellness, and quality of life. Throughout the month, we’ll be sharing exciting content on our Facebook page, including behind–the–scenes looks at how we prepare programs, debunking common myths about TR, and the many benefits it brings to individuals and communities.

Follow us on Facebook, celebrate all month long, and see why TR matters!
