Hi! I’m Rachel Treisman (pronounced like “trees”🌲), a general assignment reporter who is — pinch me! — part of NPR’s team covering the Winter Olympics from Milan.
Most of the time, I help cover the news of the day online and on air, whether that’s the White House, the weather or Taylor Swift. But for most of this month, I’ll be based in Milan alongside reporters Becky Sullivan, Brian Mann, Pien Huang and editor Eric Whitney, all focused on one huge story.
We’ve studied up, and now we're bundling up and splitting up to cover what organizers are calling the most widespread Winter Games ever: co-hosted by Milan and the Dolomite resort town of Cortina d’Ampezzo, with competitions scattered across some two dozen venues many hours apart by car.
So expect lots of news, explainers and features on the athletes, sports and storylines you’re going to want to know about, whether you’re glued to your screen all month or just want to be conversant at social gatherings (Super Bowl parties, the office elevator, etc.), you can find — and bookmark — all of NPR’s Olympics coverage here.
You’ll get a new edition of Rachel Goes to the Games in your inbox every day of the Olympics, from now until things wrap up on Feb. 22. In between, I’ll keep you updated on what I’m seeing and hearing (and hopefully also eating) on the ground, in the hopes you can feel a little bit more like you’re in Italy too.
Make sure to subscribe here! I can't wait to share this journey with you. |
