Authorities had initially given the number killed as nine, but later revised it down. Police said the suspect Jesse Van Rootselaar was also found dead at the scene with a self-inflicted gun injury. The victims include the suspect's mother, Jennifer Strang, 39, and 11-year-old step-brother who were found in a home in the town. Killed in the school afterwards were a 39-year-old female educator, three female students, all aged 12, and two male students, aged 12 and 13. Police said they had previously attended the suspect's family home on multiple occasions, with some calls related to mental health concerns. | | | | | | | | |

| | | BEYOND THE HEADLINES | The Dutch love four-day working weeks, but are they sustainable? | | | | | | | Some companies report sickness levels are down and staff retention is up under a four-day working week. Credit: AFP via Getty Images | | A four-day working week is common across the Netherlands, which is challenging the assumption that rich countries need long hours to stay competitive. Dutch employees work an average of 32.1 hours per week, the lowest in the EU, but the country's economic output remains high.
