Dear Friend,
As February arrives with brutal winter winds and (seemingly) never-melting snow, it’s hard to believe that the Year of the Fire Horse is right around the corner! Yet with Lunar New Year and Valentine’s Day approaching, this month reminds us that celebrating our community and the AAPI stories that connect us is at the heart of everything we do.
I'd like to specially invite you to honor our history and the stories that shape us by joining us on Tuesday, February 24 in NYC or virtually for Serica Storytellers: Poetry, Memory, and Remembrance. The evening, in commemoration of the Japanese Day of Remembrance, will bring together the community in a heartfelt book discussion featuring the translators and editors of By the Shore of Lake Michigan, a collection of Japanese tanka poetry and firsthand account of WWII incarceration and resettlement.
You can join from anywhere at 7pm ET for the book discussion, but those onsite from 6-9pm will get a special connection to a few of the storytellers and community engagement over shared dishes and drinks, potluck style!
As we spring into March and April, we’re excited to be bringing you online webinars and leadership pathways to nurture growth and connection in our community — just in time for International Women’s Day! Of course, April will bring us to one of our most anticipated (and glamorous) moments of the year — gathering for our AAPI Trailblazers Gala, and proudly being the first to kickoff AAPI Heritage Month! See below for a full list of important dates and upcoming events.
And as always, treat yourself to the wonderful events, updates, programs (including an abundance of upcoming Lunar New Year celebrations) from our community network.
From all of us here, thank you for all you do for our community, and we wish you a fiery and prosperous Lunar New Year!
