This sort of anti-tech tech takes many forms, from apps that gamify the act of not looking at your screen to entirely “dumb” phones. Anti-screentime influencers sing the praises of these and other digital-detox hacks. You can find them on TikTok.

Elsewhere on social media, conservative influencers hawk items made by brands that reflect their values. But this “parallel” MAGA economy remains tiny; many companies are unprofitable. The movement has found more success in causing trouble for existing brands than in building their own.
