Reconnect with AWIC: Your Resource for Finding Animal Use Alternatives
The National Agricultural Library's Animal Welfare Information Center (AWIC) was established under the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) to support professionals working with animals in research, teaching, testing, and exhibition. AWIC provides information
- for employee training,
- to prevent duplication of animal research, and
- on improved methods of animal experimentation (7 USC §2143 (e)).
To fulfill this mission, AWIC shares resources and guidance on animal use alternatives, so you can find methods to replace or reduce animal use and/or minimize animal pain and distress that are relevant to your animal use protocol.
