Modern Skill Stack is our new podcast series on which skills product professionals are focusing on as roles rapidly change.
In the first episode we sit down with Florian Boelter, Staff Product Designer at Juro, three years leading AI adoption across his design organization.
Most designers are unclear about which AI skills actually matter. Florian breaks it into three layers:
• Layer 1: LLM fluency. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini for daily work. Summarizing research, drafting content, exploring ideas. No longer optional for anyone in a knowledge role.
• Layer 2: Creative building tools. Lovable, Figma Make. Spend a focused weekend. Build something relevant to your work. The goal is understanding what is possible before you need to explain it to anyone else.
• Layer 3: AI-assisted development. Cursor, Claude Code. Worth the investment for designers working on systems or product infrastructure. Requires basic systems thinking, not an engineering degree.
The full conversation is on YouTube and Substack. Watch it to see where the skill stack applies to your work.
