Hey,

A lot of guitar players get frustrated for the same reason.

They expect progress to happen in a straight line:

- You learn something.
- You master it.
- Then you move on to the next thing.

That works for some skills in life.

Guitar is not one of them.

Music learning doesn’t happen in a straight line. It happens in loops.

You play something.

Then you understand it a little better.

Then you apply it.

Then when you come back to it again later… suddenly it makes more sense.

The first time you see something on the fretboard, it might feel confusing.

The second time, it feels a little familiar.

The third time, your hands start finding it automatically.

Nothing changed about the idea itself.

What changed is your experience with it.

Your brain builds musical understanding the same way it builds language.

You hear something.
You try it.
You repeat it.

And every time you come back around the loop, the picture becomes clearer.

That’s why sometimes you can revisit a concept months later and suddenly think:

"Wait… why didn’t I see that before?"

You didn’t see it before because you hadn’t gone around the loop enough times yet.

That’s why inside the GMM VIP Club, as a community, we go through the EMA Formula every year (like seasons).

We start out in E = Exercise, developing physical guitar playing skills.

Right now we’re in the M = Mind season where we go deep on making music theory simple.

Then we move to A = Action where we use those skills to express yourself, create your won music, even write & release your own song.

Then in October we’ll be doing our big event Guitar Mastery Live again in Nashville.

Before jumping back into E = Exercise with our Guitar Fastlane 66 program.

This works because learning guitar is a journey, and you can never go over the fundamentals too much. Each time, you learn more, become better.

And the real key… Enjoy your guitar playing more.

This is also why the players who improve the most aren’t the ones trying to master everything perfectly before moving forward.

They’re the ones who keep playing, experimenting, and coming back to ideas again and again.

Every pass through the loop adds another layer.

A little more feel.
A little more understanding.
A little more control.

And eventually the fretboard stops feeling like a puzzle.

It starts feeling like a map where you know all the right notes to hit.

So if something you’re learning doesn’t feel perfect yet, that’s normal.

You’re just somewhere in the middle of the loop.

Keep playing.

Charlie

P.S. If you’re not already in the VIP Club going through the EMA Seasons, and it sounds like something you’d like to do, I’ll be holding a live session next Sunday at 5pm ET where I’ll invite you in. It’s still a little while away so keep an eye on your email inbox. Totally optional of course, but the results our members are having, and the crazy amount of support there is in the community… It’s a great place to be.
