Preparations for TC Narelle dominated much of the latter part of last week with our statewide regional team banding together to mount more than 30 hours of continuous rolling emergency coverage once the system crossed into WA. Our local team volunteered to work considerable extra hours contributing to both the rolling and news coverage. Thankfully our region was spared the worst of the severe weather event but our thoughts are very much with those who bore the brunt further north.
Chris Lewis has launched a new project titled Humans of the Sea, exploring people and their connection to the ocean. The first subject is Keitha Bradley (pictured), who took to the water after suffering knee issues which made walking difficult. "I couldn't swim very much to begin with, but now I can do a kilometre in the ocean," she said. You can read more about Keitha and her journey on the ABC Midwest Wheatbelt Facebook page.
We are watching with much interest to see how recent events including fuel access and cost will impact visitors over the Easter weekend. Please do take care if you are on the roads.
