Get ready for some very unusual tip for a Monday Izabela
And btw, if you are one of the VERY FEW who pay attention to the hormone I´ll talk about today, please let me know and accept my most sincere congratulations.
Meet Progesterone, a hormone that is often taken for granted. But make no mistake: progesterone is not less important than estrogen!
This hormone is the one that keeps you calm, focused, and with a steady energy.
She wants you to slow down, so the week before your period, you may feel less outgoing and more prone to staying in, reading, and tuning inwards.
Unfortunately many women feel guilty when the think of slowing down, and everthing around them rewards exhaustion and pushing through.
I remember feeling proud of myself for going to work with a fever. That was the time I had pneumonia and didn't know it!
Clearly I had bo choice but to rest and recover after I saw a doctor who looked at me as if I was out of my mind when I said I drove myself to the hospital…
I was in my 30s…so I could get away with it, but not for long.
Back then, my PMS was SO bad that I often fainted (one time in a bar, way to ruin everyone´s evening huh?)
I had a terrible temper that earned me a reputation of intolerant and impatient.
I had cramps, was bloated and constipated on a regular basis
I thought I slept well, but I didn´t
I was working crazy hours, goint bed after midnight every day (and I thought that was something to be proud of)
So here´s what I learned the hard way:
-
It's important to respect ourselves and our need for rest and recovery on a daily basis.
-
You don´t go crazy and become this monster the week before your period, you just need to slow down
Because the body sends signals loud and clear when we don't
⬇️These are common symptoms ⬇️
▪️heavy periods
▪️PMS
▪️irregular cycles
▪️anxiety
▪️lack of energy
▪️trouble sleeping
▪️mood swings
▪️difficulty concentrating
▪️overreacting to stress (getting overwhelmed)
▪️cravings (specially chocolate!)
Progesterone levels need to increase in the second half of your cycle, and when it peaks you'll get your period.
So you want to pay special attention to supporting Progresterone during the week before your period (after day 20 of your cycle)
