I can’t get it out of my head

Hey iza,

Ever since I became a millionaire, this song lyric has haunted me.

Or maybe it’s ever since I became a mom.

Either way, I can’t get it out of my head.

Have you ever heard the song “Hurt” by Johnny Cash?

There’s a really important line in there:

“You could have it all…my empire of dirt.”

I think about that line all the time.

Think of how much time he spent building his career. The tours. The hours in the studio.

And, at the end of his life, it was all meaningless to him.

iza, this business I’m spending so much bandwidth on…it’s dirt.

It’s so unimportant in the grand scheme of my life.

Even though my business helps so many people and literally changes the course of people's lives…it’s nothing compared to what really matters.

My daughter.

I tell myself all the time: my mission is to help people make more money.

But that comes SECOND to my most important mission: being little Ellie’s mommy.

I think it’s SO important to remember this, especially when we are in a season of success.

And God knows I am in a season of success right now.

It would be so easy, so tempting to double down on the business now.

But instead, I’m choosing to lean in to the one thing I can’t get back: time with my sweet baby.

And I don’t think I will ever regret that.

Love,

Maria

P.S. Btw, iza, you might not have kids. Your most important thing truly might be totally different. It might be travel. It might be time with your fur babies or your partner. It might be giving yourself luxurious hours to read and learn. It also might genuinely be working on your business. The lesson I get from Johnny Cash’s song is to make sure we are spending our time on the things that are truly important to us. -M
