From the Principal’s Pen

Dear Laurel Hill Families,

It was wonderful celebrating with all of you during International Night and Earth Day! Experiencing the rich cultures represented in our community in this way was both exciting and deeply meaningful. It is always a joy to learn more about our students and families through opportunities like this. Thank you to our PTA for sponsoring such a special event, and to everyone who helped make it memorable.

We are also grateful for our music team, who supported our students with such enthusiasm, creativity, and energy during the Earth Day program. It was a delight to see and hear our kindergarten and first grade students share their musical talents. Across all grade levels, students have been learning important ways to care for our Earth—whether through recycling, conserving energy, planting trees, or simply showing kindness to nature.

As we prepare for the upcoming SOL tests (grades 3–6), please be sure you have your student’s testing schedule. If you have not received this information, feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher.

Sincerely,

Janice Dalton, Principal

Addison Smith, Assistant Principal

Thmeaka Traylor, Assistant Principal

FCPS is proud to celebrate National Arab American Heritage Month in April. This special month provides an opportunity to recognize the history and valuable contributions of Arab Americans. Arab Americans have ancestry in one of the world’s 22 Arab nations, which are located from northern Africa through western Asia. The people of these nations are ethnically, politically, and religiously diverse but share a common cultural and linguistic heritage. Learn more about the heritage months, celebrations, and traditions celebrated in FCPS.
