Dear South County Community,
We want to share an important update regarding the Stallion Football Program. At the end of this school year, Coach Urquhart will be moving with his family back to his home state of Texas to take an opportunity near where he grew up and move closer to he and his wife's extended families.
We are truly sorry to see Coach U leave South County and while he has only been with us for one season, his impact on our program and school community has been significant. He prioritized building strong relationships, fostering the development of young men of character, and creating a culture where our student-athletes compete with pride in both victory and defeat. We are grateful for the time he spent with us and the foundation he helped strengthen. We wish Coach U and his family all the best steps into this next phase of his career
Looking ahead, we are mindful that this is a late point in the year to conduct a comprehensive search for the next head coach of our program. In order to maintain continuity within the program and minimize disruption for our student-athletes, we will name Defensive Coordinator Jonte Craig as interim head coach. Coach Craig has worked alongside Coach U for many years and has a deep understanding of Stallion football on both sides of the ball. His leadership, familiarity with our program and most important, connection with our athletes, will ensure a smooth transition into next season.
Immediately following the conclusion of next fall’s season, we will conduct a thorough and intentional search for the next head coach of South County Football. Our goal is to identify the best possible leader to continue building on the strong culture we already have in place.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Thank you for your continued support of South County Athletics.
