From the Mailbag: Sidewalk Work Again?

Segment C Lane Closure Sign

Question: I thought the sidewalks were done, but I see cones out there again. What's going on?

Answer: After the contractor completed the sidewalks in Segment C and D, inspectors found that there were areas that did not meet quality standards.

These areas of sidewalk need to be reconstructed to ensure they will last for the long run and not pose risks to people walking on them. These repairs are targeted to be completed by early May.

Additionally, landscapers and Dominion Energy also have tasks on Columbia Pike that are on a separate timeline from the Columbia Pike Multimodal Improvements project. These tasks will be minimally disruptive compared to sidewalk reconstruction.
