A Message from Ms. Kirkland

Dear Families,

Thank you for your flexibility this week as our school served as a polling place for our community. We appreciate your support in helping things run smoothly during this important civic process.

We are looking forward to several upcoming full weeks of instruction for our students. As always, we remain committed to teaching and learning all the way through the end of the year, and we thank you for ensuring your children arrive at school on time each day ready to learn.

In the coming weeks, students will begin SOL testing. Please be sure to review the testing dates listed in the article below to help your child feel prepared and confident.

Additionally, please take a moment to review the article with information about how families can share their intentions for the next school year. Your input is important as we begin planning ahead.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support.

Warmly,
Kate

Intentions for 2026-27 School Year

Even if you're not sure about your plans or are leaving, we need to hear from you.

In a few weeks, we will begin planning our class grouping for next school year. In order to ensure we have the best information, we need parents to do the following:

1. Let us know your intentions for next year by completing this form by Monday, May 18.

Complete it for each child that is currently at Mount Eagle in Grades PK-5. You do not need to complete it for your sixth grade child. If you say now that you are moving, but then your plans change over the summer, that's okay. You can let us know as soon as possible in the summer. We will have a spot for your child.

2. (Optional) Please share any information you feel will help with class groupings. If you have information you would like us to consider, please do so in the optional question in the form linked above. You can write in your home language. If you are requesting that your child be placed with a particular friend, please include at least 2 names. We do not take requests for a specific teacher. Instead, you are welcome to share particular traits that you feel would best support your child. Note that as a small school, we only have two classes at Grades 3-6, so requesting that your child be separated from another student may not be possible. Again, sharing this information is optional in the form. If you have questions, don't hesitate to reach out to Ms. Kirkland.

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener Results Now Available

Students in grades 3-12 took the SEL Screener during the month of March, providing information on their SEL skills like achieving goals, understanding and managing emotions, establishing and maintaining relationships, and making responsible decisions. The screener also asks students how well their school community makes them feel valued, included, and supported.

Individual student SEL Screener results are now available to families in the Documents section of SIS ParentVUE. For families who do not have an active ParentVUE account, we will share copies with you directly.

For support in understanding your individual student’s results or for ideas on how to support them at home, please review the Family Guide or reach out to our school staff with any questions.
