Our second year Dental Careers students took their learning into the community this week with a trip to Navy Elementary. During their visit, students taught kindergarteners the importance of good dental hygiene in a fun and engaging way. Dental students gave an interactive presentation then broke up into groups with the young learners to reinforce the importance of healthy habits like proper brushing and flossing. The experience not only gave the kindergarteners some great tips and reminders to care for their teeth, but also allowed our dental students to develop their communication skills and share their passion for dental education. Both the high schoolers and kindergarteners were all smiles after a great day together!
This week, students in our Korean 3 class had the opportunity to participate in a Korean cooking class (and friendly competition) thanks to a generous grant from Educate Fairfax. Students chose from three types of Korean stews to make: kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew), budae jjigae ("Korean Army stew"), and sundubu jjigae (soft tofu stew). Following traditional Korean recipes while also adding their own culinary flair, students served up a delicious array of Korean cuisine. Mr. Eric Kinne and Ms. Cheryl Arnold from Educate Fairfax were on hand to judge these delicious culinary creations. It was a tough decision between several delicious dishes!
Cosmetology 2 students helped Chantilly High School students get glammed up for Day Prom this week.

From large mammals (like this Newfoundland) to small mammals (like these guinea pigs) - our Veterinary Science students care for them all!
Cosmetology 1 students participated in a cutting foundations workshop with professional hairdresser Melissa Hall, owner of Studio MK.
Over the past two months, many of our Academy Ambassadors have visited FCPS elementary and middle schools for their Career Days to present on what they are studying at the Academy and the career pathways connected to their courses. We are so grateful to our Ambassadors for their engagement in the community!
