Hello MUES Families,
For being a short week due to Tuesday being a day off for students, it sure was a busy one! Not only did we continue with MAP and iReady testing as well as transition over to SOL Review, but we hosted our annual MUES Spring Book Fair and Art Show. Please join me in thanking Ms. Soni, Librarian, and Ms. Coe, Art Teacher, for doing such an incredible job in planning these special events for our school community to enjoy! We are very grateful for their strong leadership and dedication to our entire Mustang community.
Next week, we officially kickoff the SOL testing season by beginning small group testing. Please ensure that your Mustang is ready to put in their best effort by getting a good night's sleep, eating a healthy breakfast, and getting to school on time. It is also very important to make sure that they know how proud you are of their hard work, and to try their best even on questions that might be challenging.
As always, if you have any questions in an effort to best support your Mustang, please feel free to connect with their classroom teacher, the main office staff, a school counselor, or administration for support.
Have a great weekend, Mustang Family!
Your Proud Principal,
Mrs. Goddin

Support Your Children During Important Spring Assessments
Students will be participating in spring assessments based on their grade level and courses. This includes summative assessments like Standards of Learning (SOL) tests, which measure what a student knows, and progress assessments like Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) tests, which measure where they are in their learning.
FCPS encourages all families to support their students in taking these tests. Virginia requires schools to test at least 95% of students on SOLs, so when families choose not to participate in testing, it can impact a school’s accreditation, accountability ratings, and ability to measure student progress accurately.
Parents and caregivers can help their children perform their best on these tests by reminding them to get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and the cell phone policy still applies during testing season.
It is important that students attend school on scheduled testing dates. If you are aware of a conflict that may cause your student to miss a test, please notify your student’s school as soon as possible.
Learn more about how to support your child and why test participation matters.
Join us on May 6th for Bike & Roll to School Day! We encourage our Mustangs and their families to bike or scooter to school in the morning. Students are encouraged to wear a helmet and lock their bikes/scooter on our bike racks.
Students who bike or scooter to school between 8:30-8:45 a.m. will receive a prize from FCPS Safe Routes to School while supplies last.
Go Green! And, start your day off strong, healthy and fun!
