Ace Hardware Member Notice
I meant to reply sooner, but I wanted to make sure I had actually tried the new route before saying anything. I went yesterday in the late afternoon, and it was much calmer than the usual path. The trees along the side are finally filling in, so most of the walk felt shaded instead of exposed.
I also tested that suggestion about bringing a small notebook, and it helped more than I expected. I jotted down a few details I would have forgotten ten minutes later, especially the name of the plant near the footbridge and the odd bird call by the water. I still have no idea what made that sound, but now at least I remember where I heard it.
If you go this week, wear shoes you do not mind getting dusty. The ground is dry in some areas and strangely soft in others. I think morning would be nicest, though sunset had a pretty glow too.

I got your note about the weekend plan, and I think keeping it simple is the right call. I tried squeezing too many stops into one afternoon last time, and it ended up feeling rushed from the beginning. This time I’m leaning toward choosing one main activity and leaving a little space around it.
I checked the park trail conditions this morning, and the path near the old stone wall seems easier now. A few people said it was quieter earlier in the day, so I may head out before lunch instead of waiting until later. That usually leaves enough energy to do something easy afterward, like reading on the porch or finally sorting the stack of papers on the side table.
Also, thanks for the reminder about bringing water and a light jacket, because I always assume the weather will stay the same and it never does. If you want, I can send a quick update afterward and let you know whether the route was worth repeating.
