Hi ala,
I walked into an event on Wednesday evening and was greeted with, “I have a harpist for you!”
Um, OK???
Turns out my new friend had seen me onstage tell a story that included, as a side note, the fact that the harpist who was supposed to play at my wedding had the weekend wrong and never showed.
I’ve been married for more than 30 years, and I’ve gotten over the absent instrumentalist. Seriously, I’m good...especially when I asked if she remembered anything else about my speech and she said, "Say 'yes' to public speaking!"
This story reminds me that there's another anniversary. Eleven years ago today, we turned on the Innovation Women platform!
We started with a couple hundred speakers and event managers, and today we have thousands of you! Congrats all around. And a big "Thank you!"
But we still have a very long way to go. Women are still underrepresented on stage, in the board room and the C-suite. We’re paid less. We get less funding for our companies…WAY less.
In some ways, it's a happy anniversary - say "woo-hoo" for business survival and growth, thousands of wins and speaker friend connections. But gosh darn, I still want to see that needle MOVE.
Bobbie and the entire Innovation Women team
P.S. Sign up today for our special Speaker Friend-a-thon!
