I have been trying to figure out the best way to handle the tomato plants this season. The raised bed gets a lot of afternoon sun which seems to work well but I need to water them more frequently than I expected. I think I will add some mulch around the base to help retain moisture. The cucumber plants are doing well on the trellis system I built last weekend. They are starting to climb up the strings which is great to see. I also started some basil from seed and it is finally coming up.

The shelf installation took longer than I anticipated because the wall studs were not where I expected them to be. I ended up using some heavy duty anchors which seem to hold well. I measured everything twice before drilling any holes which saved me from making mistakes. The wood I selected has a nice grain pattern that matches the other furniture in the room. I applied two coats of polyurethane for protection and it dried nicely overnight. Next time I will pre drill more carefully.
