Yeah I finally made it out to that trail you recommended a few weeks ago. Got there just after sunrise on Saturday and it was still pretty quiet. The first section is all switchbacks which definitely gets the legs working but the view from the ridge was worth every step. I took the short loop this time because I wasn't sure about the conditions but next time I want to try the full five-mile route. Saw a couple of deer near the creek about halfway through. The trail markers were easy to follow once I found the starting post. I brought a light pack with just water and snacks and that was plenty. The parking area had maybe eight cars when I arrived so it wasn't crowded at all. I ended up sitting on a rock at the overlook for about twenty minutes just taking it in. Really glad I finally went. Let me know if you want to join next time I head out there.

You know how I've been looking for a decent flat white around here. Well I finally found a spot on Grand that opened about a month ago and it's actually good. The barista knew the difference between a flat white and a latte which is already a win in my book. They use beans from a roaster up in Portland and the flavor is smooth without being bitter. The space is pretty compact maybe five small tables but they have big windows facing east so the morning light is really nice. I went on a Tuesday around 9 and it was quiet enough to sit and read for an hour. They've also got a little shelf of secondhand books which is a nice touch. The owner came out and mentioned they're planning weekend pop-ups with a local baker starting next month. I'll probably make it my regular spot since it's on my way to work.
