Mount Gambier was thrown into the epicentre of state politics this week with the Premier Peter Malinauskas and his convoy of ministers descending on the city.
The Premier dropped a political bombshell with news the government was planning to scrap the current moratorium on fracking in the South East.
While the government says the move will unlock gas supplies for the state and has been welcomed by the energy market, the community’s backlash has been swift and loud.
We also had a whistlestop visit by Liberal Party leader Ashton Hurn, who was spotted chatting with farmers at the Mount Gambier Saleyards on Wednesday.
And in other news, the iconic cycling race, that snakes through the Mount Gambier district, will go ahead despite initial concerns over low entries.
