This weekend!Arlington County & Falls Church Residents Invited to Interactive Data Walk on Local Prosecution and Diversion ProgramsWHO: WHAT: Community members will learn:
The event is a self-guided walking tour, each staffed by members of the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office to explain the data and answer questions. Light refreshments will be provided. Our Six Stations Include:
1. Context and Background: The History of Prosecution and the Criminal Justice Reform Movement
2. Vision: Our Values, Policies, Trial Case Trends, Successful Trial Strategy, and our effort to create Diversion programs
3. About OCA: Who we are, What we do, Our staff
4. Impact: How we keep our community safe, Restorative Justice success stories, Meet our Diversion partners - OAR and Restorative Arlington
5. Challenges: Implications of COVID-19 Pandemic, Case Trends for Arlington County and the City of Falls Church, Systemic barriers
6. Into the Future: How we are working to improve transparency and data collection through new case management software in order to better serve victims and our community.
WHEN & WHERE:
(The exhibit will be the same on both days.) WHY IT MATTERS FOR LOCAL AUDIENCES: Commonwealth’s Attorney, Parisa Dehghani-Tafti said, “I’m excited that we are able to pull back the curtain on the office, even in the faces of the challenges and obstacles we have had to overcome to get here.
