Illness & Clinic Protocol: If a student feels ill, they MUST report to the School Clinic. Students will only be dismissed for medical reasons after being evaluated by the clinic staff and checked out from that location.
-
Official Office Check-Out: All students leaving early must physically check out through the Main Office. Any student who leaves campus without following this procedure will be marked with an unexcused absence.
-
Attendance Corrections: If a student is marked UNV for a specific period due to lateness or a clerical error, the student must speak with that teacher directly. The teacher will then update the attendance or notify the attendance team. The Attendance Offices will not alter period-specific attendance without teacher verification.

Message from Dr. Khoshaba
Greetings, SoCo family,
As the temperatures outside continue to shift from cool mornings to warmer afternoons, one thing in our school community remains constant: the warmth we feel for one another. Each day, we are reminded that kindness, encouragement, and shared purpose create an environment where every student and staff member can thrive. No matter the season, the appreciation we have for this incredible community continues to grow stronger together. Now, on to the reflections for this week …
Student and Staff Belonging
Making Waves at States!
South County Crew capped off an incredible season at the VSRC Championships, proving to the state that our program is a force to be reckoned with. The Men’s 1st and 2nd Varsity Fours both secured State Champion titles, with the M-2-4+ achieving a remarkable three-peat victory. Our success continued across the board as the Women’s 1st Varsity Four and Women’s Junior Varsity Eight earned silver medals, while the Men’s Junior Varsity Eight brought home the bronze. We are immensely proud of all our athletes and extend a sincere thank you to the parents and volunteers who made this unforgettable season possible.
High Quality Instruction
This week, I observed another exceptional teacher! Mr. Hickman brought the Civil Rights movement to life this week by using powerful video testimonies and Dr. King’s "Letter from Birmingham Jail" to help students connect deeply with our history. He maintained a focused and positive classroom where every minute was used effectively, skillfully guiding students back to the lesson whenever they lost track. During group activities, he moved throughout the room to provide personalized coaching, ensuring each student received the specific feedback they needed to succeed. By frequently shuffling groups, he also kept the energy high and encourages students to sharpen their understanding through fresh conversations with different classmates. We’re fortunate to have such a talented teacher within our ultra-strong Social Studies department!
School Culture:
Carrying the Torch: A Stallion Legacy
Nicole and Adriana have stepped seamlessly into the lead, expanding the philanthropic trail first blazed by their older brother, Sean. By raising vital funds for seniors facing financial hurdles, the sisters ensure that every member of the herd can cross the finish line without the weight of unpaid obligations holding them back. Their dedication serves as a steady lighthouse for the Stallion community, guiding their peers through turbulent economic waters with grace and unwavering generosity.
Opening Acts of Excellence
We begin every faculty meeting by celebrating the extraordinary talents of our students, and this week’s performance was nothing short of spectacular. Students from our Chinese and Vietnamese Clubs captivated the audience with a vibrant and beautifully choreographed dance routine that radiated energy, precision, and cultural pride. Their dazzling performance blended graceful movements, infectious enthusiasm, and remarkable synchronization, earning enthusiastic applause from everyone in attendance. It was a breathtaking reminder of the incredible diversity, artistry, and spirit that make our school community so exceptional.
Honoring Our Senior Standouts
This week, we had the pleasure of celebrating Senior Night for our Softball and Track teams, recognizing the dedication and accomplishments of these outstanding student-athletes. The events were filled with pride, gratitude, and memorable moments as we honored the seniors for their leadership, perseverance, and commitment to their teams. Throughout the season, these athletes have demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship, encouraged one another through every challenge, and represented our school community with class and integrity. We are incredibly appreciative of the teamwork and positive spirit they have brought to their programs and wish our seniors continued success in all that lies ahead.
Pathways to Success
This week, we proudly celebrated our seniors in the College and Career Pathways program and recognized the incredible accomplishments they have achieved throughout their high school journey. Their hard work, determination, and commitment to preparing for future careers and opportunities reflect the very best of our school community. We extend special appreciation to their dedicated sponsors—Mrs. Biehl, Mrs. Lewis, Mrs. Straughn, and Mr. Mims—whose unwavering support, guidance, and encouragement have helped these students grow and succeed every step of the way.
Staff Spotlight:
A heartfelt thank you goes to our Student Leadership teacher, Mrs. Peck, and her outstanding students for partnering with our PTSO and administrative team to make Teacher Appreciation Week truly exceptional. From the thoughtful grab-and-go treat bags and international snacks to the delicious Leadership Breakfast, exciting raffle baskets, and PTSO-sponsored lunch, every detail reflected tremendous care and appreciation for our staff. We are especially grateful to the leadership students who creatively designed and personally contributed many of the raffle baskets, helping make the entire week both memorable and meaningful for our faculty and staff.
As we close another wonderful week together, we wish all of our students, staff, and families a restful and well-deserved weekend. Thank you for the countless ways you continue to support one another and contribute to the strength and spirit of our school community. For 20 years, South County has stood strong through every challenge and celebration, and together, we continue to build a legacy of excellence, pride, and Stallion spirit.
