Hey, I finally got around to trying that fermentation project we talked about. Started with a basic batch of kimchi using napa cabbage, daikon, and gochugaru. The first few days it smelled a little funky but now the brine is bubbling nicely and the color is turning that deep red-orange. I think I left it on the counter one day too long because the lid bulged a little but I burped it and everything settled down. My kitchen counter is covered in jars and my wife keeps giving me that look. 159WSVYk7g I might try a small batch of hot sauce next if this one doesn't explode. Have you ever had one go bad on you? I am just using a basic 2% salt brine and keeping everything submerged with a weight. Fingers crossed it turns out edible.

I finally swapped out the old single-pane windows in my sunroom for double-glazed units and the difference is unreal. No more drafts in the morning and the room stays noticeably cooler in the afternoon. I used spray foam around the frames and sealed everything with silicone caulk. Took me a full weekend but I am glad I did it myself. I also added a simple cellular shade on the south-facing window to cut the glare. Now I can actually sit in there and read without sweating. Next up is re-caulking the baseboards in the hallway. I found a tube of paintable silicone that blends right in. Let me know if you ever want to borrow my oscillating tool for your own window project — it made the trim work so much cleaner than a utility knife.
