Hey, thanks for asking about the trail we did last weekend. It was the Skyline Loop up near Mount Rainier. The wildflowers were just starting to bloom at the lower elevations. We started pretty early, around 6 AM, to beat the crowds and get a parking spot at the trailhead. The first couple of miles were a steady climb through old-growth forest. There were a few creek crossings that were a bit high from the snowmelt. It took us about 5 hours total with plenty of stops for photos and snacks. The view from the summit ridge was absolutely worth the effort. You could see the entire Cascade range laid out in front of us. I packed way too much food as usual, so we ended up having a pretty luxurious lunch at the top. Let me know if you want the AllTrails link or any more details about the conditions!

Also, be sure to check your tire pressure before you go on any longer drives this summer. I noticed mine were a bit low when I got back and it made a huge difference in the ride comfort. Anyway, hope you guys can make it out there soon!

I finally finished that historical fiction book you recommended, the one about the library in occupied France. It took me a while to get into it because of all the character introductions, but once the main plot kicked in around chapter four, I couldn't put it down. The way the author described the daily risks people took just to keep the library running was incredibly moving. I found myself staying up way too late on a work night just to finish it. I have to say, my favorite character was the older archivist who never stopped cataloging, even when the shelves were empty. It made me think about what we hold onto during difficult times. I already put the next book in the series on hold at the local branch. Have you read the sequel yet? No spoilers, but I heard it jumps forward a few years and focuses on a new set of characters connected to the original building. Let me know if you want to swap books again soon!
