I was telling my friend about this trail I found last weekend. It is about six miles round trip with a steady incline but the view at the top is absolutely worth it. We started early around 7am because the weather forecast said it would get hot by noon. The path was well marked and we only passed a few other people on the way up. There is a small creek about halfway that makes a good spot to stop and catch your breath. The summit has a flat rock area where we sat and had our snacks. I saw a couple of birds I could not identify and some really interesting wildflowers along the edges. Next time I want to bring my camera and maybe try going during the week when it is even quieter. My legs were sore the next day but in a good way.

I tried making pasta from scratch last weekend for the first time. It was definitely a process and my kitchen looked like a flour bomb went off when I was done. The recipe I followed said to let the dough rest for thirty minutes which gave me time to clean up a bit. Rolling it out was the hardest part since I do not have a machine and had to use a rolling pin. The noodles came out a little uneven but honestly they tasted way better than the boxed stuff. I made a simple garlic and olive oil sauce with some fresh basil from the plant on my windowsill. The whole thing took about two hours from start to finish but it was really satisfying. I think I will try a different shape next time maybe fettuccine or even ravioli if I am feeling ambitious.
