I think the best approach would be to start with the main course options and work backwards from there. We have about twelve people confirmed so far, and I am expecting maybe two or three more to RSVP by the end of the week. The backyard setup should work fine as long as we have enough seating. I was thinking we could borrow some folding chairs from the community center if needed. For the menu, I was leaning towards something that does not require too much last-minute preparation so we can actually enjoy the time together. Let me know if you have any dietary restrictions I should plan for. I will send out a reminder to everyone a few days before. Also, I wanted to ask if you think we should set up some games or activities, or if people would prefer to just socialize. The weather forecast looks promising, but I will have a backup plan just in case. Let me know your thoughts when you get a chance. I found a nice spot for the buffet table near the patio doors so it stays out of direct sun. I will also set up a drink station on the side counter to keep things organized.

I have been working on that bookshelf project and I think I have finally figured out the best way to join the corners. After trying a few different methods, the pocket hole approach gave me the cleanest result without needing too many specialized tools. The pine boards I picked up from the lumber yard were reasonably straight, though I had to let them acclimate in the garage for a few days. I am planning to use a simple wipe-on polyurethane finish to keep the natural look. The whole thing should be ready by next weekend if you want to come by and see it. I also found a great technique for aligning the shelves that does not require a full clamping system. Let me know if you are interested in the details and I can walk you through it. Otherwise, I will just send you some photos when it is done. I also added some small trim pieces to the front edges to give it a more finished appearance.
