Yeah, I finally got around to trying that hiking trail you mentioned last month. The weather was perfect — not too hot, just a light breeze. The trail was a bit muddy in spots but nothing too bad. We started early around 7am and had the whole place to ourselves for the first hour. Saw a couple of deer near the creek, which was a nice surprise. The overlook at the top had this incredible view of the valley with the fog just starting to burn off. Packed sandwiches and ate them sitting on a big flat rock. Definitely going back when the leaves change. Also tried that pasta recipe you sent — the one with the lemon and capers. It was surprisingly quick to put together on a weeknight. I added a bit of grilled chicken to make it more of a full meal. Worked great. Let me know if you want to do a hike together sometime in the next few weeks.
I also finally got around to organizing my bookshelf over the weekend. Found a couple of old novels I had completely forgotten about. Might re-read one of them on the train next week.

Hey, I finally started reading that book you recommended — the one about the pottery artist in Japan. I'm only about sixty pages in but I'm really enjoying the pace of it. The descriptions of the workshop and the kiln process are really meditative. It's making me want to try taking a ceramics class somewhere locally. I found a studio about twenty minutes from my place that does weekend beginner workshops. Might sign up for one next month.
On a completely different note, my cat has developed this new habit of sitting on my laptop keyboard every time I try to work. She's never done that before. I think she just wants attention when I'm focused on something else. I've started putting a small cardboard box next to my desk and she seems to like sitting in that instead. Works about half the time. Anyway, hope you're doing well. Let me know if you have any other book recommendations.
I also tried that brunch spot you mentioned near the park. The avocado toast was solid and their cold brew was really smooth. Would go again.
