 G. V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center announced today it has once again earned a four-star rating as part of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) 2026.
This marks the second consecutive year our medical center has sustained a four-star rating and maintained its standing as the highest-rated hospital in the Jackson metro area.
CMS star ratings are based on important measures including patient safety, mortality, readmissions, patient experience, and timely and effective care. Sustaining this recognition reflects the continued dedication of our physicians, nurses, and employees who work every day to provide safe, high-quality care to the Veterans we are honored to serve.
This is the fourth consecutive year that VA has outperformed non-VA care, and the second year in a row that no VA hospital received a one-star rating. The percentage of VA hospitals receiving four or five stars has grown dramatically in the last two years:
- 2023, 67%
- 2024, 58%
- 2025, 77%
- 2026, 78%
