Yeah I finally made it to that new coffee shop on Main Street last weekend. The space is really open with high ceilings and lots of natural light which makes it feel much larger than it actually is. They have a good selection of pour-over options and the barista recommended their Ethiopian single origin which had a nice bright acidity with some berry notes. I also tried one of their pastries a lavender scone that was surprisingly good not too sweet with just enough herbal flavor. The seating was comfortable too with a mix of tables and lounge chairs near the windows. If you want to meet up there sometime next week I am free Tuesday or Wednesday morning. The place gets busy around mid morning so earlier would probably be better to find a good spot.

I have been experimenting with making pour-over at home as well and it is definitely a different experience than having someone else prepare it. The temperature of the water and the pour rate seem to make a bigger difference than I expected. I ordered a gooseneck kettle last week and it should arrive by Friday so I am looking forward to trying that out.

Let me know what day works best for you and we can plan from there.

We finally finished painting the living room last week and I am really happy with how it turned out. We went with a warm gray shade called Silver Strand that shifts a bit depending on the light sometimes looking more beige sometimes more gray. It took three coats to get full coverage over the previous color which was a dark navy blue that the previous owners had chosen. The trim work took the most time since we decided to repaint all the baseboards and window frames a crisp white to match. Next weekend we are planning to start on the hallway and maybe the downstairs bathroom if we have enough energy left. The whole process has been tiring but it makes such a big difference in how the space feels.

I also had to patch a few small holes in the walls before painting and that was surprisingly satisfying to do. Using a bit of spackle and sanding it smooth made the surface look much better than I expected. We are already talking about what color to use in the bedroom but I think we need a break first before taking on another project.
