Tonight: Pike Projects Featured at Mid-County Transportation Projects Open House

Join County staff tonight - Tuesday, June 2, at Alice Fleet Elementary School for an open house to learn about projects soon going into the design phase, focusing on the section of Arlington between Columbia Pike and I-66.

An Eye on the Pike

The event will feature two projects that will soon open for feedback to inform the design of improvements near Columbia Pike:

• South George Mason Drive between Arlington Boulevard and Columbia Pike,
• Arlington Boulevard Trail (South Side) between South Glebe Road and South George Mason Drive.

South Walter Reed Drive Progress

Crews have mobilized to do work on the east side of South Walter Reed Drive between 9th Street South and Columbia Pike.

• This work includes preparations to widen the sidewalk on the east side of South Walter Reed Drive. 
• Crews will work in the roadway before working on the sidewalks, and expect to be done with the east side in July of 2026.
• After east side/northbound lane work, crews will start working on the west half/southbound lane of South Walter Reed Drive between Columbia Pike and 9th Street South.
