Follow the Green Building Policy Conversation
At the June 9 city council work session, Environment and Sustainability Division staff will discuss items pertaining to the adoption and implementation of the Green Building Policy. Staff will also present a project prioritization matrix and the proposed implementation schedule. The matrix sequences projects based on defined criteria.
Fairfax City’s proposed new green building policy establishes standards and incentives for new public and private construction and major renovations. The green building policy will help the city preserve and enhance the city’s natural resources and environment; reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and increase clean energy. Overall, the policy will increase social, health, and economic benefits for the community.
The goal of the work session discussion is to align priorities, resources, and decision-making to support long-term success.
