Shaunna Burke reached the summit of Mount Everest at 3 a.m. on Saturday, May 23. The 50-year-old Pointe-Claire native and McGill grad, now based in the U.K., had moved mountains — pardon the pun — to get there, writes The Gazette's T'Cha Dunlevy.
Burke had scaled the world’s highest peak once before when she was 29, becoming the second Canadian woman ever to do so. But after she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in 2024, she didn't know if a return would be possible.
