i finally got around to trying that sourdough starter recipe you sent me last month. it took a couple of tries to get the fermentation right but the third batch came out beautifully. i used whole wheat flour instead of all-purpose and the crust had this amazing nutty flavor. my kids ate half the loaf before it even cooled. i also added a little rosemary and sea salt on top which gave it a nice savory kick. let me know if you want me to send you the exact measurements i ended up using because i tweaked yours a bit. anyway hope you and your family are doing well and enjoying the spring weather. we have been spending more time in the garden and the tulips are finally blooming. school is winding down and summer plans are starting to come together which is exciting but also a little chaotic. talk soon.

oh hey thanks for asking about the hike last weekend. it was honestly one of the most beautiful trails i have done in a long time. we started early around 6:30 am and the fog was just lifting off the valley. the path wound through a dense forest of pine and cedar and then opened up to this alpine meadow with wildflowers everywhere. the elevation gain was moderate so we took a few breaks to enjoy the views. at the summit there was a small lake and we sat there for almost an hour just watching the clouds drift by. my dog loved every second of it especially splashing in the cold water. i brought sandwiches and we had a little picnic before heading back down. the whole loop was about eight miles and honestly my legs were a little sore the next day but totally worth it. i am already planning to go back next month maybe bring a tent and make it an overnight trip. you should definitely come along if you are free.
