Yeah, I finally made it out to the lake house this past weekend. The weather was surprisingly good for this time of year. We took the old kayak out on Saturday morning and the water was glass. Saw a couple of eagles circling near the far shore. My brother brought his new grill and we did ribs Saturday night. I've been meaning to ask if you and your family want to come up sometime in the next few weeks. The foliage should be peaking soon and it's really something to see from the deck. Let me know what weekend works for you and I'll block it off. We could do a firepit night too if the weather holds. ZpsNqehEepW I've been experimenting with some new recipes for campfire cooking that I think you'd enjoy. Also thinking of inviting a few more friends if that's alright with you.

I finally finished reading that novel you recommended last month. Took me a while to get into it honestly, the first hundred pages felt slow, but once the story shifted to the coastal town it really grabbed me. The way the author describes the fog rolling in off the water reminded me of our trip to Maine a few years back. I ended up highlighting about a dozen passages. The character development is subtle but by the end I felt like I knew them. I'm thinking of starting her earlier book next, the one set in the desert. Have you read that one? If so, let me know what you thought. I'm always looking for something good to read on the train during my commute. Also, I found a great little bookstore near the station that stocks a lot of her work.
