I just got back from that hike we talked about and it was exactly what I needed. The trail was mostly shaded which kept it cool even around midday. We stopped at the overlook and just stood there for maybe ten minutes not saying anything. jUCMmVshmW9jBQY brought along a pair of binoculars and spotted a hawk circling way off to the east. I forgot how good it feels to be out of cell range for a few hours. My legs are definitely going to be sore tomorrow but it's worth it. We're already planning to go back next month and try the longer loop. I think I might invest in some better boots before then. I finally tried that pasta recipe you sent me last month and it turned out pretty well even though I swapped mushrooms for the chicken since that's what I had on hand. The sauce was richer than I expected but a pinch of chili flakes balanced it nicely. jUCMmVshmW9jBQY came over for dinner and brought a really good bottle of red wine. We ended up staying up way too late talking about old movies we used to watch. It felt great to have a relaxed night in like that. I'm thinking about trying a sourdough starter next weekend.
