Hey, totally random, but I was out in the garden yesterday and noticed the tomatoes are starting to ripen faster than I expected. I think it's because of that extra heat wave we had last week. I might have to pick them early and make a big batch of salsa verde if the tomatillos keep up. Anyway, just thinking out loud. Let me know if you have plans for the long weekend. kbanDBEYFMUp4Ik I'm still trying to figure out a good time to seed the new patch of wildflowers out back. The soil there is mostly clay, so I mixed in some compost and sand to help with drainage. Fingers crossed it works out. I'm also thinking about building a small raised bed for herbs near the kitchen window. Basil, mint, and chives would be perfect. I saw a simple plan using cedar planks that looks really straightforward. Maybe I'll tackle that next weekend if the weather holds up. Let me know if you have any tips for keeping the squirrels away!

I finally sat down to watch that documentary about deep-sea exploration everyone's been talking about. Honestly, the footage of the bioluminescent creatures was absolutely stunning. It makes me want to dust off my old snorkeling gear and find a good reef to explore, though obviously nothing that deep! Also tried a new ramen place downtown that uses a miso broth with black garlic oil — highly recommend if you're in the area. I've been experimenting with making sourdough starter from scratch. It's a lot more work than I expected, but the first loaf came out decent. Not as airy as I'd like, but the crust was perfect. I'm feeding the starter daily now and hoping the next batch will be better.
