I saw you tried to call earlier about the hiking trail conditions. Honestly, I haven't been up that way since early spring, so I'm not entirely sure what the South Ridge looks like right now. I know the lower loop is usually well-maintained, but the upper part can get pretty overgrown if the trail crew hasn't swung through yet. You might want to check with the ranger station just to be safe. I remember last year around this time, there was a lot of downed timber from the storms. The creek crossing mZC7WoUt4sA on the eastern side can also be a bit tricky if the water level is up. I'd recommend wearing boots you don't mind getting muddy. If you do head up early, the parking lot tends to fill up by 9 AM on weekends. Let me know how it goes if you end up going!

We just got back from the farmer's market and they had the most amazing heirloom tomatoes this week. I picked up a big basket of them and I'm thinking of making a big batch of marinara sauce this afternoon. The basil in the garden is also going crazy, so I'll probably throw some of that in too. My neighbor offered to lend me her immersion blender, which should make things a lot easier. Have you tried making sauce from scratch before? It's a bit of work, but the smell in the house is incredible. I usually freeze a few quarts so we have it for the winter. Anyway, just wanted to share the inspiration in case you were looking for something to do with all those tomatoes you mentioned you had.
