As we close the 2025-26 athletic year, it is impossible not to reflect on just how special this year has been for South County Athletics.
Across every season, our student-athletes, coaches, families, and supporters demonstrated what it means to represent the Stallion community with pride. Championships were won, records were broken, and individual honors were earned, but the greatest accomplishment may be the culture that continued to grow throughout the year.
Our Stallions competed at the highest levels. Boys and Girls Basketball captured both Patriot District and Occoquan Region Championships before advancing to the VHSL State Tournament. Boys Soccer earned a District Championship and made an impressive postseason run. Football advanced to the Region Semifinals and energized our community throughout the fall. Along the way, South County athletes earned District, Region, and All-State recognition across numerous sports, and our Men's Crew team brought home a State Championship, powered by titles by their first four and second four boats.
Amid all the excitement, what stood out most to me in my first year at South County was the way our community responded.
On cold fall nights during football's playoff run, the stands were filled with students, families, alumni, and community members who believed in our team. During the winter, our gym became one of the most exciting places in Northern Virginia as students packed the stands to support both basketball programs on their championship journeys. In the spring, supporters continued to show up for boys soccer as the Stallions battled through district and regional competition.
Those moments matter.
They remind our student-athletes that their hard work is valued. They strengthen connections between teams, students, families, and staff. Most importantly, they help create the type of school culture that makes South County special.
This year also reflected something we have emphasized throughout our athletic programs: leadership. Our student-athletes continued to demonstrate resilience, accountability, sportsmanship, and a commitment to something bigger than themselves. They represented South County with class in victory and defeat, supported one another across programs, and worked to leave a positive legacy for those who will follow.
To our coaches, thank you for the countless hours invested in developing young people. To our parents and families, thank you for your unwavering support. To our students and fans, thank you for showing up, creating energy, and making South County a place where people want to compete.
And to our student-athletes, thank you for an unforgettable year.
The banners, trophies, and awards will always be part of our story, but the relationships built, the memories created, and the pride shown in being a Stallion are what will endure long after the final whistle.
Thank you for an incredible 2025-26 athletic year and I can't wait to see what 2026-27 brings!
Once a Stallion, Always a Stallion.
