Hi ala,
Have you heard about the Hollywood Diversity Report? Well, as speakers and event organizers, we need to pay attention. We offer entertainment (and infotainment) too.
The US's BIPOC population currently is 45.2%, and it continues to grow. The minority is expected to become the majority in the next few decades.
In 2025, Hollywood's BIPOC streaming creatives lost ground relative to their White counterparts. Key positions (film leads, directors and writers) posted poor diversity showings.
Women lost ground overall, and are underrepresented in three of the four main roles (directors, writers and actors) in the world of streaming.
As slightly more than half of the population, women also remain underrepresented in all major employment arenas for theatrical film.
However, the study's authors found that America's increasingly diverse audiences prefer diverse content.
When it comes to streaming content, KPop Demon Hunters is Netflix’s most popular original title of all time, with more than 600 million views in the US alone.
Meanwhile, theatrical films with casts that were from 41 percent to 50 percent BIPOC garnered the highest median global box office receipts, the highest median domestic box office receipts, were released in the most theaters on average, and had the highest opening weekends on average.
In other words, we WANT women, diversity and inclusion, and we're just not getting it.
Bobbie and the entire Innovation Women team
