First Alert: Flash flood warning for parts of Mass. as scattered rain continues

Don’t put away your umbrella just yet!  Much-needed rain will continue to fall over parts of Greater Boston today as a frontal system moves through New England. 

A flash flood warning was issued for Bristol and Plymouth counties in Massachusetts on Tuesday morning. Track conditions in your area using the interactive radar, and see more severe weather warnings here.

The rain will be scattered.  Some pockets of heavy rain are possible here and there, along with an isolated thunderstorm or two, but the threat for severe weather remains low.  Some localized flooding can’t be ruled out, especially in our typical low-lying areas.

England and Ghana to face off at Boston Stadium

We’re now more than halfway through the World Cup matches at Boston Stadium. On Tuesday, England and Ghana face off in Foxborough.

The game kicks off right as rush hour gets underway, and things could be wet.

This will be one of the most high-profile games played in Massachusetts, with many star players in the mix.

Jets were 300 feet apart in Boston close call that forced flight to abort landing

A Delta Air Lines jet was roughly 300 feet (90 meters) from an American Airlines plane during a close call at Boston’s airport that forced the Delta aircraft to abort a weekend landing attempt, an aviation expert said Sunday.

The Federal Aviation Administration said it was investigating the incident between two commercial flights that happened Saturday at Boston Logan International Airport. The National Transportation Safety Board also said Monday that it was investigating.

Todd Curtis, a former safety engineer at Boeing, estimated the distance between the two jetliners using Flightradar24, a website that tracks flights. Curtis now coproduces a podcast about flight safety issues.

Man killed in Dorchester shooting, Boston police say

A man was killed in a shooting Monday evening in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood.

Police responded shortly after 7:30 p.m. to a report of a person shot on Milton Avenue. A victim was found on abutting Selden Street suffering from a serious gunshot wound.

Boston EMS pronounced the victim, an adult male, dead at the scene, police said.

Man arrested in deadly Mattapan carjacking to undergo mental health evaluation

After a chaotic and tragic situation on a busy Saturday in Boston’s Mattapan neighborhood, the suspect accused of killing a woman with an SUV he’d stolen appeared in court in Dorchester on Monday.

Ibraim Matos, a 37-year-old from Hyde Park, was ordered held without bail, and pending a mental health evaluation after facing charges including murder and carjacking in the Dorchester district of Boston Municipal Court.

Video shows Matos allegedly carjacking a Toyota RAV4 from Fernandez Car Wash on Blue Hill Avenue on Saturday. The owner told us the driver was pulled out and the suspect sped off a short distance; police say he hit a woman walking on the sidewalk, killing her.

Teen accused of stabbing his father in Sherborn home

A 19-year-old has been charged after a stabbing at a home in Sherborn, Massachusetts, on Sunday afternoon.

Gavin Blalock, 19, is accused of stabbing his father. He was arraigned on charges including assault to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon at Natick District Court on Monday, court records show.

Sherborn police were called to the Prospect Street home around 1:15 p.m. for a male who was reportedly stabbed, and arrived on scene to find one person with multiple stab wounds.
