Good news -- the summer sun returns today!! But we're still tracking more rain this week. Other news we're following includes crashes in Franklin and Fitchburg. Plus, we have a recap of Ghana vs. England at Boston Stadium yesterday. I'm Kaitlin McKinley Becker, and these are your headlines.

Teen bicyclist killed by vehicle near Franklin highway off-ramp

A bicyclist hospitalized after a crash with a vehicle Tuesday afternoon in Franklin, Massachusetts, has died, police said.

Franklin police said they responded to the crash on King Street near the Interstate 495 off-ramp. At least six cruisers could be seen in aerial footage, with police tape tied between two of them and another vehicle.

The victim was taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The bicyclist wasn’t identified beyond being 15, and from Franklin.

The sun returns today but we're tracking more rain this week

After a couple of rainy days here in Boston, we’re looking forward to sunny, warm weather…well, just before more rain moves in by the end of the week.

High pressure builds over New England today, giving way to a mix of sun and clouds and high temperatures in the low to mid 80s here in Greater Boston.

Tonight, lows will drop into the low 60s under mostly clear skies.

Medical helicopter called for pedestrian struck by car in Fitchburg

A pedestrian was flown by medical helicopter to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, overnight.

Police say the crash occurred at the intersection of John Fitch Highway and Route 2A.

There was no immediate word on the victim’s condition, with police saying only that they were airlifted to UMass Medical.

2 men sentenced to up to 30 years in deadly Dorchester shooting

Two Massachusetts men were each sentenced to up to 30 years in prison in a deadly 2023 shooting in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood.

Dashan Crowder, 23, of Quincy, and Tyreese Robinson, 21, of Randolph, pleaded guilty to charges of manslaughter, unlawful possession of a firearm and six counts of armed assault with intent to murder, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday.

In the early hours of Dec. 30, 2023, 41-year-old Curtis Effee of Boston was shot to death on Geneva Avenue. The following day, Crowder and Robinson were arrested, initially charged with murder.

Woman killed in Mattapan carjacking crash honored at vigil

Three days after an alleged carjacker hit and killed a woman in Boston’s Mattapan neighborhood, members of the community came together to honor her life.

A candlelight vigil was held Tuesday evening for 32-year-old Mabinty Janneh of Dorchester. She died after being hit Saturday afternoon on Blue Hill Avenue.

Ibraim Matos, 37, of Hyde Park, is charged with murder in the crash. He allegedly stole a vehicle and drove it onto the sidewalk, fatally hitting Janneh.
