I just got back from the bookstore and I picked up that novel you mentioned last week. I have to say the first few chapters are really engaging so far. The way the author describes the setting makes it feel like you are right there in the story. I have been trying to read more fiction lately because nonfiction has been my go to for years and I think I have been missing out. Let me know if you have any other recommendations because I am planning to build a proper reading list for the summer. Also thank you again for suggesting that coffee shop downtown. I went there on Saturday and the atmosphere was perfect for getting some work done. Their cold brew is fantastic and they have these really nice pastries that pair well with it. I will probably make that my regular spot for weekend mornings. Anyway let me know what you think about the book once you finish it. I have about fifty pages left and I am already looking forward to discussing the ending with you.

I finally started working on the garden project we talked about. I cleared out the overgrown section in the backyard and found some really old paving stones underneath. I think I can repurpose them into a small patio area near the fence. The soil there is actually pretty good so I am planning to plant some herbs and maybe a couple of flowering shrubs along the edge. I have been watching some tutorials online about building raised beds and it seems doable with basic tools. My neighbor offered to help me with the heavy lifting next weekend which is nice. I also want to put in a small bench so I can sit out there in the evenings. It is going to take a few weekends but I think it will be worth it. Let me know if you have any tips on what plants do well in partial shade because that spot only gets about four hours of direct sun. I am also thinking about adding a small water feature if the budget allows but that might be a project for next spring.
