Yeah I think the trail near Pine Ridge would be a good choice for Saturday morning since the weather forecast looks favorable and the path should be dry. We could meet at the main parking area around 7:30 to get an early start before the heat sets in. The full loop is roughly four miles with some gentle elevation changes so it should take us about two and a half hours at a comfortable pace. I will bring some trail snacks and plenty of water for everyone. You might want to wear sturdy shoes since there are some rocky sections near the creek crossing. I checked the park website and there are no closures or alerts posted currently. If we finish early we could stop at the farmers market on the way back since it runs until noon on Saturdays. Let me know if you want to adjust the meeting time or if anyone else from the group is planning to join us. I will pack an extra layer just in case the temperature drops in the shaded areas. The trail map showed a few alternate routes we could take if we want to extend the hike a bit. I think starting early will give us plenty of time to enjoy the scenery without feeling rushed.

I also checked and the parking lot has enough space for several cars so we should not have any trouble finding a spot. The park entrance fee is five dollars per vehicle which we can split if needed. There are restrooms at the trailhead which is convenient. Let me know if you have any questions about the route or timing.

I finally made some progress on the cabinet project I mentioned a few weeks ago and the frame is now assembled and sanded. The walnut I selected has a really nice figure with some subtle curl patterns that should look great under a clear finish. I decided to use mortise and tenon joints for the main structure and they fit together well after some careful chisel work. The next step will be fitting the door panels and installing the hinges. I am planning to use an oil based polyurethane for the finish since it offers good durability for a piece that will see regular use. The overall dimensions are about three feet wide and two feet deep which works nicely for the corner space in the dining room. I still need to decide on the hardware pull style but I am leaning toward simple brass knobs. Let me know if you want to come by the workshop this weekend to see it in person and give me your thoughts on the finish options.

I picked up some extra clamps last week that should help with the glue up for the doors. The process has been pretty methodical so far and I am pleased with how the joinery turned out. I think the next project will go even more smoothly now that I have a better workflow established. The dust collection setup in the shop worked well enough but I might upgrade the hose connection at some point. Let me know when works for you to stop by.
